Student Support Services Overview
Student Support Service Providers are committed to establishing a positive school culture and promoting student well-being across Safford Unified School District. The goal is to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and valued. These services are designed to support the whole child through a variety of programs and interventions.

Classroom Lessons
Elementary classrooms receive monthly visits for character education lessons based on the Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) framework, which has been implemented district-wide. Through the Leadworthy Character Lessons provided by CKH, students are encouraged to develop leadership, perseverance, and strong interpersonal skills. 

Small Group Support
Small group sessions are available for elementary and middle school students who may benefit from additional guidance in areas such as emotional regulation, social skills, or coping with life challenges. Groups typically consist of 3–6 students and follow the Character Strong curriculum, which emphasizes personal growth, empathy, and resilience.

Individual Support
Individual sessions are available for students experiencing grief, emotional or behavioral challenges, or academic stressors. Support is tailored to meet each student's specific needs, providing a safe and supportive environment. In cases where more intensive or ongoing care is recommended, students may be referred to Cartwheel, the district’s online mental health care partner, for professional counseling and therapy services.
