ERIC GILIAM MAGICIAN ~ February 1, 2025 ~ 3PM Matinee & 7PM Evening

 

 Born and raised in Alaska, Eric first became fascinated with magic at age twelve when he saw David Copperfield   perform in his hometown of Anchorage. He thought the illusions he saw were incredible and soon after decided that   performing this art on stage was going to be his life’s passion. Since then his rise as a stage magician has been   amazing, performing over a thousand shows, making several TV appearances in Europe, and winning numerous national and international awards. At home in Phoenix, Eric has become a local hit, performing sold out shows all around the state of Arizona. He travels throughout the Southwest and has been regularly booked to perform at corporate events on the Strip in Las Vegas.

Chen & Galbraith - East Meets West

Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 7:00 p.m (Performance held in the Mark R. Tregaskes Recital Hall of the CFA)

East meets West. A unique collaboration of two cultures. Born in Wenzhou China, Yihan Chen started leaming Pipa when she was eight years old. She was exclusively chosen for the Pipa major by the Middle School Affiliated to China Conservatory of Music in Beijing in 1985. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress and other leading venues. Internationally renowned, Paul Galbraith is one of the finest active guitarists today. Wishing to play the lute works of Bach in their original versions, as well as transcriptions of a wide range of music including Brahms, Paul conceived the idea of a guitar with two extra strings surrounding the traditional six - one lower and one higher. Paul has toured the USA annually, and performed throughout the UK, Switzerland and the European Union, as well as in China, South America, South Korea, Russia, Norway, Iceland, Australia and Canada.

The Swingles

The Swingles have been challenging the boundaries of vocal music for 60 years. They have earned 5 Grammy® Awards. Their seamlessly blended and timeless sound quickly established them as one of the world's most beloved and admired vocal groups, and their intricate arrangements remain unparalleled. With their trademark vocal dexterity and innate musicality, the current seven singers are masters of their craft, constantly seeking new ways of reimagining jazz, folk, pop and classical music from their ever-growing repertoire alongside a rich vein of new original material. American-born Ward Swingle first assembled a group of Parisian session singers (originally named Les Swingle Singers) to sing Bach's music for the keyboard in 1962. The resulting album 'Jazz Sebastian Bach' was a huge hit, breaking new musical ground and launching The Swingles to fame.

The prize-winning Danish-Latvian ensemble brings truly unique and innovative chamber music experience to audiences. Carion fascinates with its carefully choreographed and dramatized performances of classical and modern works. "No chairs. No music stands, nothing. Carion's fresh approach to chamber music has earned standing ovations from audiences of the USA, South America and the Far East. Etienne Gara, French-Hungarian violinist and Artistic Director of Delirium Musicum, has: recorded a solo album on a Stradivarius from 1714, performs internationally, and regularly joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. YuEun Kim, violinist, is an international competition winner and in-demand soloist and chamber musician, performs around the world and has a YouTube channel boasting over 6,000,000 views. Stella Cho, cellist, was raised in the UK, made her solo début at London's Royal Albert Hall at the age of fifteen, and concertizes on three continents. The artists share tales of their adventures on the road, including playing for an audience of ostriches! Short pieces from French chansons to audience favorites like Monti's "Czardas," from Brahms to Brazilian and Korean pop music, Charlie Chaplin, Vivaldi, and more, are selected during the concert together with the audience. A MusiKaravan concert can be imagined as a fun, impromptu musical picnic, perfect for all ages and backgrounds!
