  • Mr. AJ Taylor Named Superintendent for Safford Schools

    On Tuesday, January 21, 2020 the School Board announced their decision that AJ Taylor would be the new Superintendent of Safford Schools beginning 2020-2021 school year.

    AJ has worked for SUSD for 26 years. He started in 1993 as a teacher at Lafe Nelson School. In 2005 he became the Principal of LNS. Then in 2017 he moved over to the District Office when he became the Director of Instructional Services.

    We are excited for him as he begins this new adventure as Superintendent of Safford Unified School District.

  • Mr. Kent Baldwin Director of Instructional Services for SUSD

     

    Kent Baldwin At the Board Meeting on Thursday, February 13, 2020, Kent Baldwin was approved as the new Director Of Instructional Services for Safford Schools begining the 2020-2021 school year. Here are some fun facts about Kent:
    • Kent has 26 years experience in education and K-12 school administration experience within that tenure.  
    • His administrative experience includes 4 years at the K-8 level and 3 at the high school level.  
    • Kent has been involved in curriculum selection and adoption as a site administrator, and his teaching experience includes elementary as well as middle school experience.  
    • He believes in an open door policy as he serves SUSD and is excited and looks forward to working with SUSD staff in this new role.

  • Office for Children with special health care needs The Graham County Health Department would like to introduce you to the new website for parents, youth, caregivers, grandparents, teachers, administrators, counselors, healthcare professionals and everyone who comes in contact with “Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs”. This website is very comprehensive and contains resources for everyone to access. After reviewing the site, there is a questionnaire at the bottom that you can make comments on. We will leave this questionnaire up for a few weeks. Please feel free to comment.

    The Arizona Department of Health Services uses the Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s definition of Children with Special Health Care Needs as:  “Children up to age 21, who have or are at risk for a chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, emotional or potentially disabling condition and who also require health and related services of a type or amount beyond that required by children generally.”
